The unique cultures of the different paradise islands in this area are beyond imagination. The scenes of nature are awesome and the activities for visitors are unbelievable. The perfect paradise island vacation dream.

!!Watch video clips to plan your beach vacation packages!!

The cultures of the pacific paradise islands has so much rich history that much of it is still practiced today. Cultural performances play a big part in the tourist industry that gives visitors to the paradise island a sense of how people lived, worked, fought battles and entertained themselves for hundreds of years. There is so much to see and understand of the different island cultures that it would take a very long time to see it all. Most big resorts now days put together different cultural performances from different parts of the paradise islands into one big show that's performed at least once a day. Cultures are the way communities of the different pacific islands recorded their unique way of life. Chanting or singing and dancing are the most common way communities kept their history and way of life alive. With the "cheap vacation packages" today the paradise island cultures can be seen by visitors from all over the world.

Many of the pacific islands have added attraction with the remains and history of world war 2. The Japanese military had invaded many islands in the 1930s and for some islands were politically administered before then. When the United States was attacked by the Japanese in Pearl Harbour on December of 1941, world war 2 in the pacific began. This terrible war which lasted over four years brought devastation and suffering to all the islands caught up in this conflict. After the war was over these islands were administered by the United States under the United Nations, until each island district decided their political future.

Today with most of these islands having some sort of political affiliation with the united states, financial aid from the US over the last fifty years has greatly helped the islands to re-develop and enter into the new world. Tourism has become the major part of these islands economic income and tourism related development seem to have no end.

Tourists today are fascinated to see the recovery and development of the islands after a 20Th century world war that was so devastating. Island cultures and traditions survived and so did the peoples of these pacific islands.

When Planning Your Next Vacation Consider: Bahamas vacation packages, Hawaii travel vacation packages, Tropical vacation packages, Hawaii Resort, Adventure travel vacation, vacation planning.

Articles of Interest:

Polynesian History

Archaeologist calls "The Tongan Islands" 'The Cradle of Polynesia'

A small fishing village on the northern shores of eastern Tongatapu, at the entrance to the Fangsta Lagoon, has been identified by a Canadian archaeologist. Professor David V. Burley, as the cradle of Polynesia.

David drew his conclusion from his final excavation at Nukuleka in August 2007 where, with his team of three archaeological students from the Simon Fraser University, Canada and a scholar from France, they found pieces of Lapita pottery that confirmed his belief.

"The biggest pieces of pottery are about 2,900 years old and with the other there may be 50 years difference," he said. "Tonga was the first group of islands in Polynesia to be settled by the Lapita people about 3,000 years ago, and Nuclear was their first settlement in Tonga."

The Lapita people, the cultural ancestors of modern Polynesians, were the makers of Lapita pottery and David's research of showing that they moved out of island Melanesia and into the South Pacific islands making the initial human colonization of the region.

David is an authority on pottery in Tonga and in Polynesia who has done extensive archaeological excavation throughout the Tonga Islands in 1989. He has been to 'Ata, 'Eua, Yavapai, Vavau, Niuofo'ou and Niuatoputapu, but most of his findings were on Tongatapu.

David said that within 100 years of the arrival of the Lapita People, the whole of the Tonga islands were settled.

"Then a thousand years later they moved eastwards to eastern Polynesia. There are 19 Lapita sites that we have found around the Fangsta lagoon," said David.

"They came here first about 3,000 years ago when the lagoon sea level was higher than today. They were no mangroves, so the lagoon shore was a big beach, and the lagoon was full of shellfish, and everything that we have dug up was packed with layers of shellfish. When we excavated at Havelu, there was no dirt, just solid shells."

"The waterfront around Nukeleka is still rich with shells, imagine 3,000 years ago. At the bottom of the Nuclear site we found that they were also eating a lot of turtles and birds. We have documented 26 species of birds, including big pigeons and the shells were mainly Kaloana."

David's excavation at Nuclear in August 2007 was rewarded with some of his best findings.

"This site was first excavated by Poulsen in 1964-65 and they found sherds, very different from other findings in Tonga, but very similar to what we found to the west, to western Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia and so on, so obviously these people come from the west, based on linguist and other evidence. The designs in the pottery are very distinctive and similar to the tapa designs of today, they tell us how related they are to designs in other areas in Tonga and other places," David said. "The designs are also very similar to tattoo designs."
